In 2001, West Blocton Elementary School was named a Blue Ribbon School.
West Blocton Elementary School's tornado shelter was installed in 2007. This shelter is also used as our school gym.
In 2008, a new hallway was added to West Blocton Elementary School. This wing now serves as our third grade hall.
During the 2020-2021 school year, West Blocton Elementary School received a Be Healthy Grant from Blue Cross + Blue Shield for the amount of $10,000, which was used to pave a new walking track behind the school.
