WBES Reopening Parent Information
As our 2020-2021 school year approaches, we are working hard to make WBES look and feel as close to normal as possible, while keeping our students and employees safe. Below are a few things specific to our school parents need to know prior to the first day of school. District guidelines can be found in the Bibb County School Roadmap for Reopening Schools on our district website, www.bibbed.org.
- Parents must wear face coverings to enter the building to check students in/out. We will not be allowed to have any classroom or lunchroom parent visits.
- While our hope for all students is parents will choose to send your children to our building, we understand that some of you may choose the virtual school option. Remember, August 5th is the last day to choose the virtual school option.
- Supplies Drop-off: Monday, August 10th
Only bring large, non-personal items that won’t fit in backpack
We are requesting that you purchase vinyl backpacks if possible
Class rolls will be posted asap
Parents will pick up registration packets and car rider tags

Parents may bring their child to school with supplies for a short meeting.
- Parents must wear face coverings to enter the building.
Returning students, make sure you have updated student information online. If you have not completed this update and need your child’s snap code, please call the school office.
New students, make sure you have completed the online registration and picked up a registration packet from the school before August 10th if possible.
- First Day of School:
Pre-k & Kindergarten ⅓ student staggered opening.
Tuesday, Wednesday, & Thursday only ⅓ of students will attend.
Friday, all children will come to school.
Teachers will let you know soon which staggered day your child will attend.
This will give teachers a better opportunity to teach a small group of students procedures and routines.
- Morning Car-Riders
Pre-K students will enter through the back of the building.
(1) Pre-K teacher will be out back to meet them. They will enter the building at 7:40 or later to avoid buses.
Pre-k students who have older siblings will need to enter from the back of the building.
All other students will enter through the front of the building between 7:40 and 8:00. The tardy bell will ring at 8:00.
- PM - Car-Riders (All siblings will ride with youngest sibling.)
Pre-K will exit in the back of the building at 2:40. If they have older siblings, the older sibling will be dismissed with the pre-k student.
This is different from last year. Please note dismissal times.
2:40 (Front of building) K, 1st & 2nd grades (& older siblings)
2:50 (Front of building) 3rd & 4th grades (& older siblings)
Parents, please do not enter the car rider line until your youngest child’s dismissal time. Your children will not leave their classrooms until this time.
All 1st - 4th grade students will be assigned a chromebook.
Chromebooks will be used for classroom instruction only, unless a child is participating in the virtual option.
- Additional Information:
Students and employees will distance as much as possible.
All adults will wear face coverings in the building.
Teachers will teach children the Alabama Course of Study Standards as normal.
Physical Education will still take place, with distancing.
Lunch, library, computer, counseling, etc. will all look different, but will still be part of the WBES day.
Please keep in mind that we are continually working to make sure your children are safe, loved, and learning. Our procedures may change on a daily basis as we navigate through this year.
If you have any questions, concerns, or ideas to help make this an awesome year, please call me (205) 938-9005 or email me at email@example.com.
We are looking forward to welcoming all of our WBES students back to school!
